Many years ago Zahhak, son of Merdas, a handsome and clever prince yet unstable and greedy, was influenced by Iblis. Iblis, therefore, chooses him as a tool to sow disorder and chaos in Persia. First, he convinces Zahhak to kill his own father and inherit his kingdom, then he tricks Zahhak and grows two black snakes from Zahhak’s shoulders. Then he tells him the only means of soothing the snakes and preventing them from killing him is to feed them by supplying them with a stew made from two human brains every day. Until a blacksmith named Kaveh speaks out in anger for his children having been murdered to feed Zahhak’s snakes, and for his final remaining son being sentenced to the same fate. Kaveh, together with Fereydon rallies a crowd to fight against Iblis and Zahhak. Finally, they win the battle and bind Iblis tied to great nails fixed into the walls of a cave, on the black Island in the middle of the Vourukasha sea, where Iblis will remain until the end of the world. Now after many years, Iblis has regained power and escaped. He gathered an army of the most vicious beasts from Nowruzestan and the neighbouring countries. He is back to take his revenge. Once more Nowruzestan is in grave danger. The people of Nowruzestan with the help of their heroes must prepare for another battle against Iblis and his Army.

Princess “Sarmaa”

Princess “Sarmaa” lives in a beautiful house, on top of the mount “Qaaf” in a wonderful land called Nowruzestan. Yes, Nowruzestan! A glorious and unique land full of green fields and beautiful forests with many species of plants and trees. With steady mountains, the tops of which are always covered with white snow. Flowing waters and life-giving rivers, which are so clear that you can see all the creatures and plants on the bottom of the water. Nowruzestan is a land of thousands of years, whose people live together happily in peace, harmony, and tranquillity from generation to generation. “Sarmaa”, the princess of winter, together with her sisters and brother, lives in this land for many years. No one knows how many years, but according to historical evidence, they have been there for thousands of years. Contrary to the real meaning of her name, which means cold, “Sarmaa” has a very warm and kind heart. Her silver hair with pearl strands, her big blue eyes, and pink cheeks gives her a dignified look. She is known among the people of Nowruzestan for her love and affection. Her heart reflects goodness just like a mirror. Whenever she sheds tears, the clouds rain, and whenever she laughs, a gentle breeze fills the air with a pleasant aroma. A Persian Cat called “Asal”, which means honey lives with “Sarmaa”. Sometimes, especially if someone disturbs his sleep, he is no longer as sweet as his name. Sarmaa’s garden is full of pomegranate, bitter orange, and persimmon trees. All year-round, these trees are filled with juicy and delicious fruits. The animals around are allowed to eat as much of the fruit as they want. During the winter, Sarmaa commands the clouds to snow and rain, commands all rivers and streams to freeze, and tells the animals and plants to sleep until the beautiful spring season arrives. Then she herself makes sure that winter is as glorious as possible, and that nature is getting ready for the coming of a beautiful spring. But, in the midst of all these, Sarmaa has great sadness in her heart. This is related to her one and only love, “Uncle Nowruz” and also the big New Year celebration. Sarmaa and Nowruz are in love for thousands of years, but they are not allowed to meet each other in person. Also, Sarmaa has to stay all alone in her house on Mount Qaaf while the entire land is celebrating the coming of the New Year.
Do you want to know why? Well, there is a big secret in it! So, follow the Adventures of Nowruzestan to get to know the other characters one by one and also to reveal the great secret and exciting events that will take place.

Amoo Nowruz

“Amoo Nowruz” is the messenger of spring. With his arrival comes the new year and renewal of the land. In Nowruzestan, the beginning of spring has always been associated with celebration, dancing, and festivities. On the last days of winter, just before the arrival of Spring, Amoo Nowruz returns to Nowruzestan from his journey around the world. Every year, just before going to the town, he makes a quick stop at Sarmaa’s house to see her after one whole year. In fact, this is the only opportunity for Amoo Nowruz to see his one and only love, Sarmaa. Although they have been in Love for so many years, and have loved each other very much, Sarmaa and Nowruz have not yet succeeded in seeing each other face to face. Just before Amoo Nowruz arrives, Sarmaa falls into a deep sleep. No one really knows why they should not face each other. It has been insisted in a will written thousands of years ago by the great ancestor of Sarmaa that they should never ever meet each other while Sarmaa is awake. Otherwise, something terrible will happen. But no one even knows what terrible thing could possibly happen!

Princess “Yalda”

Princess “Yalda” is in charge of the autumn season. On the last night of autumn, which is the longest night of the year, Yalda descends from the mount Qaaf and joins the people. They celebrate and welcome winter. On that night, everyone rejoices and dances until morning, eats pomegranates and watermelons, and Yalda plays the Daf drum for them and sings beautiful local songs from all over Nowruzestan. Yalda is a strong, independent, and determined young woman. She is a tall and slender girl. Her shiny black hair, which is very thick and curly, reaches below her waist. Her eyes are large and brown, just like a deer’s eyes. She has two pomegranate-shaped earrings in her ear. She is very fresh and full of energy and loves dancing and singing. When she plays the daf and starts dancing, it is as if autumn leaves accompany her and dance to the rhythm of the daf and her song.
